Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA)

The Dora Moore PTSA Mission

To be an organization dedicated to making Dora Moore the best school it can be for all of its teachers, students, families, and staff. Our PTSA seeks to create a welcoming environment and engage all groups within our community that reflect the diversity, energy, and spirit of Dora Moore.

Who is Dora Moore PTSA?

We are a diverse group of volunteer parents, teachers, staff, students and members of the community who strive to make Dora Moore the best school it can be through school-wide events, outreach and support. We advocate for every child’s potential by engaging and empowering our Dora Moore families and strengthening our community.

What do we do?

We listen to our community’s concerns, and provide a voice for the parents, teachers, and students. We sponsor events and fundraise to support the school. We sponsor, organize, and fund community events including, but not limited to, after school programming, teacher grants, and classroom support for necessary supplies. We fundraise to support these endeavors and other school needs that may arise. We are 100% funded by public gifts and contributions.

Why you need to join?

Your voice matters and is heard! And kids do better when parents are involved in their education. The number one reason is to benefit your child and help their school. But we can’t serve all segments of our community without knowing our community. Dora Moore is a diverse school and we need our PTSA to reflect what’s inside our classrooms. Plus, it’s a great way to tap into networks, be connected, speak up, and share great resources!

How can I help?

The Dora Moore PTSA has set up an easy to use Paypal account to make secure one-time or recurring donations. Our goal is to get 100 currently enrolled families and 100 community members to sign up for recurring monthly donations with the ultimate goal of raising $25,000 in the 2020-2021 school year. Giving $5, $10, or $20 a month will make a difference year round to our Dora Moore Eagles. If you cannot commit to a recurring donation, please consider a one-time donation. Donations are tax deductible and support great kids at a historic neighborhood school. Give Moore!

Our Commitment to Anti-Racism

Dora Moore PTSA is committed to being an anti-racist organization. We strive to expand opportunities and support our Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) staff, students, and community members. This commitment is ongoing and represents our desire to cultivate a culture that encourages anti-racism, equity, and belonging throughout the entire Dora Moore community. We devote ourselves to doing the hard work necessary to weave anti-racism into the fabric of who we are by setting higher standards for how we conduct ourselves every day.

We commit to developing short- and long-term initiatives that move us forward. We understand this is just the beginning of our journey. We will set measurable goals as we listen to and learn from our entire Dora Moore community. We will share goals and progress toward these goals at our monthly PTSA meetings moving forward.

*Please join us on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. We meet on zoom so check your email the week of the meeting for the link.*
