Student Supports

Interventions and Content Development

Student supports and interventions are offered for any child who demonstrates a need. Whether academically, behaviorally, or emotionally, we implemented layered and tiered interventions and supports in all areas. Often a temporary plan is needed and sometimes a more permanent plan is put in place to ensure their academic and/or emotional success. Supports can include:

Within our Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) model, we use a team approach to collaborate with different school providers and a students family. Additional supports may be accessed in this model by students with disabilities through an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or a Section 504 Plan.

For more information about our system of support, please contact the office to talk with one of our student support team members.

Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS)

PBIS is a system that we use to promote positive behavior, encourage students to do the right thing, and acknowledge those that are meeting our high expectations for behavior.

School-wide

Dora Moore has implemented a system called the Golden Eagle Award. To celebrate our core values of Community, Kindness, Curiosity, and Excellence, teachers will nominate students each week! The nomination will include a description of how the student was portraying the core value, and a raffle of all nominated students will occur to further celebrate the student.

Individual/Grade-level

Each individual classroom and/or grade-level will implement a positive behavior incentive system for individual classroom communities. Positive rewards will be used to leverage and highlight positive behavior, transitions, academic risks, social-emotional intelligence, use of academic and/or target language, and attendance. Positive incentives are a tool for teachers to encourage positive choices and to create a dialogue between students, families, and teachers. Positive incentives are never be used to punish, exclude, or threaten.
