About Our School

Dora Moore K-8 School provides a rich tradition of shared dedication and commitment to educational excellence, which enables parents, staff and community members to create a stimulating and supportive learning environment. We are a community that values and recognizes scholarship, academic achievement and creativity. We provide an environment in which each student is known, respected and valued as an individual of great potential and promise. We provide a rigorous, academic curriculum that promotes high levels of student effort and academic achievement with the aim to foster high self-esteem through stimulating intellectual challenge and meaningful academic accomplishment. We inspire in students a lifelong love of learning and a strong desire for self -development.

Dora Moore K-8 School offers an individualized instruction designed for students who are willing to work hard. We provide individual attention in an enriched environment of skilled teachers highly proficient in their subjects. Children and adults work together to strengthen their skills and maximize their individual potentials. We consistently work towards:

1. guiding students in grades K - 8 to become self-directed learners,
2. addressing the learning needs of the individual child through challenging, developmentally appropriate curriculum,
3. identifying and enhancing the strengths of every student through active, personalized, authentic learning activities which honor individual students' interests, choice, and goals,
4. maintaining high academic and behavioral expectations for all students.

Dora Moore K-8 School is proud to be the original K-8 school in the Denver Public School system with three additional schools following our lead. The community of Dora Moore K-8 School is proud of the rich tradition of excellent education provided to students in Denver for over 100 years.

Programs and Awards

Our students are privileged to partake in a wide variety of offerings. Gifted and Talented Education takes place within the school day. Some of the many awards and programs include Brain Bowl, Quiz Bowl, Science Fair, MathCounts, Environment Club, World Peace Poster Winner, Lion's Club Student Sponsorship, Shakespeare Festival, Mentorship’s, Tutorial Assistance, Modern Dance, Publishing, Nuggets Prep League Co-Ed Sports Program, and many, many, more.
